Five criteria, four priorities, one goal

We want to enable free development opportunities. These arise where you have a clear activity framework, a positive base attitude, creativity, cultural diversity and future prospects come together. Based on this mindset

  • we stimulate the public and private sector because this is where markets are designed and frameworks for action are defined.
  • we bring sports and youths together because this is where performance awareness is created and a positive base attitude is fostered.
  • we are committed to culture and lifestyle because this is where characters, creativity and cultural diversity arise.
  • we support innovation and society because this is where progress is shaped and future prospects are created.

Our initiatives cover the entire human life cycle starting from childhood, the beginning of life, up to “best” ages with their wealth of experience. Our personal involvement is widely based on continuity, communication and consistent support. IHF e.V. is an advocate for unfolding potentials, hereby developing opportunities of children, adolescents and adults, not limiting itself itself to defined topics, boundaries and generations. We tap into the globally available know-how for regional comparisons as a benchmark for our initiatives. Regardless the theme of our initiative, it is always about people, joy, community and the courage to actively shape the future.

What are we working on at the moment

It has actually been a while that we were able to work together. Unfortunately, we had all been very involved in our professional lives. The good side of COVID was that we were able to settle down and focus on possible activity areas and come up with some very impactful initiatives. Currently we have three initiatives we are pushing forward all stemming out of a perceived societal need.

KIEZMAGNET Initiative

Berlin is our homebase, many of us have lived here for decades, but still there are walls between our neighbours, prejudices exist, social support amongst one another is seen as obsolete. For many of the citizens from weak-educated homes there are limitations in the respective career paths, The intention behind establishing the KIEZMAGNET Initiative is to overcome these shortcomings at least for a fraction of people based in a so-called Kiez (German term for a section of a district with a peculiar social setting).

The KIEZMAGNET Initiative is pursuing the build up of a structure called “Kiezmagnet”. The “Kiezmagnet” is to be a blend of daycare, learning, sports and meeting place, which is to be built in a prominent “Kiez” of the capital city of Berlin. The location is to serve as a point of attraction (i.e. magnet) for “Kiez” residents and visitors. The “Kiezmagnet” is to be a place for encounters, extramural education and mentoring, togetherness in daily dealings and yearly festive periods as well as sports, fun and play.

The social, ecological and economical magnetic effect represents the sustainability triad. Sustainability is therefore a key pillar of the KIEZMAGNET Initiative.

Kickstart African Talents Initiative

In many countries in Africa sports is a big issue in terms of seeing it as a short cut avenue out of poverty. However, sports is mostly envisaged as plaaying sports instead of shaping sports in its entirety (i.e. playing, designing, financing, building, operating, marketing, selling sports) with the potential of opening up a whole new landscape of poverty evasion and welfare generation opportunities. This lead to the development of the KAT Initiative.

Kickstart African Talents (KAT) is to create a sustainable value added for Africa based on a social entrepreneurship model. The overarching theme of the KAT initiative is youth development through football along the football sports value chain. It is about identifying and promoting football talents across the African content. For us, talents are young people with a passionate interest in football. Football is composed of various functions, of which playing football is the best known, especially among Africans. In addition, there are obvious functions, such as training and coaching, football management, scouting, etc. But the functions also include the provision of training materials, clothes, shoes and more. Also you can include the areas of match documentation and reporting.

We want to be the game changer of the African football sports environment by actively involving youths in Africa as well as elsewhere, not only as players, but in particular along the complete football sports value chain with Ghana being the first stop.a

eSpIn Initiative

The year 2020 has confirmed the arrival of the e-Age, especially with the experience of the corona pandemic. It has fundamentally changed the dynamics of social interaction on a global scale. We are living in times where digital applications (i.e. e-Apps) have become an integral part of everyday family life and have become indispensable. We are very much convinced that digital media can have a positive influence on the skills development of children and youths (as well as grown-ups) as long as there are rules and agreements accompanied in using the media. There is a clear necessity for each one of us to acclimatise with the pros and cons of the respective media and applications. This motivated us to start the eSpIn Initiative.

Digital media competence is to be built up and digital media dependency reduced and users to be made aware of the fact that the Internet is to be perceived as a sea of (unreflected and unfiltered) knowledge, information and communication. e-Qualification programmes for educational professionals and parents are also to be offered. For this purpose, we are seeking cooperation with (educational) specialists from the IT and digital media sector as well as the involvement of the science and corporate environment.

Take a look at what we have done in the past

We have been opportuned to work together with unique organisations, such as AFRISKO e.V., SpIn-Kita gGmbH, Bayelsa United and many others and perform some really cool projects. Here are some of them:

An 18 month project focusing primarily on latchkey children and introducing them to fun and productive activities and developing team spirit and trust within newly formed peer groups.

A series of afternoon workshops with street jugglers serving as mentors and coaches for young people, implicitly developing the cognitive and emotional competencies of young people.

Living in a big city like Berlin, one often forgets that there is still a lot of green present. This 6 month project gave children the opportunity to consciously experience nature with all their senses – seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting and touching.

Tours were organised, in which the African street names were used to bring the continent of Africa closer to children and youths in Berlin by linking street names to African sports celebrities and whiling away time together with sports and other activities.

The organisation of themed evenings with youths as an interaction platform with representatives from business and culture who stem from similar educational backgrounds as the youths. The exchanges served as motivation and inspiration points for the youths.

Meet & Greet events for children and young people with idols from professional and amateur sports, from which motivational impulses for the respective biographies should emanate.
